What a disappointment! Turgid, slow-moving. Uses same trial-and-retrospective device as Snow on Cedars... but it much more pallid than Snow! The only heat in this book is in the lead character's remembrances of her almost compulsive sexual experiences, but neither they nor the sum of the book shed much light.
